Reports on Polar and Marine Research
Scope
"Reports on Polar and Marine Research" (German title: Berichte zur Polar- und Meeresforschung) are issued by the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research in Bremerhaven, Germany, at irregular intervals. The objectives, investigations and results of the scientific programmes carried out in polar regions and in the seas under the responsibility or with the support of the Alfred Wegener Institute are published in these issues.
The following items are published:
- expedition reports (incl. station lists and route maps)
- expedition results (incl. Ph.D. theses)
- scientific data and results of scientific projects carried out at research
stations and platforms operated by the Alfred Wegener Institute
- reports on scientific meetings held by AWI
The authors' contributions in the Reports do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the Institute.
Access to reports and data
In the framework of the good scientifc practises, all "Reports on Polar and Marine Research" are being archived in AWI's institutional repositories for publications ePIC and for data PANGAEA. The complete citation listing of all "Reports on Polar and Marine Research" (since 1981) with links to the PDF resources and data are now available under our download page.
AWI is operating the data library PANGAEA for supplementary data related to publications and scientific results from projects, research platforms and cruises. Authors of the Reports on Polar and Marine Research are requested to submit related data to the AWI curator. A password protection can be set for a moratorium on request. If a PhD thesis is published in the Reports, it is mandatory to store any primary data the thesis is based on, in PANGAEA. For data sets a DOI is provided which is used in the publication to refer to the long-term availability of the data.
